ABOUT
Alex Schmaltz is a Canadian artist, born in Toronto and now living and working in Hamilton. Her paintings and greeting cards provide a glimpse into her world; she often creates works of her favourite foods, animals and pop culture figures, as well as pieces that celebrate the beauty of womanhood.
How it all started:"I gave birth to my second child, a boy, right when COVID-19 put everyone in lockdown. During sleepless nights with my new baby, I started painting, a hobby that I have not had much time to do while raising my 3-year-old daughter and working full time. After some reluctance, I began sharing my artwork online. I am proud to say that I have now created a name for myself in the art community. Most importantly though, I have found a passion that fills my heart with joy and helps me maintain my sanity during this unprecedented time."
